Turn Opportunities Into Habits
âIâm far luckier than I am smart, and Iâm quite happy about that. Iâd much rather be lucky than smart when it comes to business.â
Are You Lucky?
Some people seem to have all the luck, donât they? They show up at just the right place and time to meet that real estate mogul who is ready to offer them a once in a lifetime deal. Or theyâre able to write and sell their first book for seven figures in what appears to be an overnight success.
We recently had dinner with our good friend Greg and his father. Gregâs father is an extremely successful, self-made businessman. He has groomed a number of companies and owns a large amount of real estate. While we were dining at a restaurant that he owns in Philadelphia, he told us about his remarkable life experiences. At one point he said something that struck us: âIâm far luckier than I am smart, and Iâm quite happy about that. Iâd much rather be lucky than smart when it comes to business.â
This bold statement surprised us. After giving it more thought, we realized he was absolutely right. Thereâs more benefit to having doors constantly open for you than to being smart but trapped in a room with nowhere to go.
The question is how do you secure good luck for yourself? Isnât luck supposed to be some ephemeral thing that either falls into your lap or doesnât? Is there any way to guarantee good luck or enhance your luck? Surprisingly, the answer is yes.
Weâre going to make our own bold statement here. We donât think good luck is random. We also believe that an individualâs luck can be increased or diminished, depending on their daily actions and point of view.
Good luck can move you up the career ladder twice as fast as the person in the cubicle next to you. The key is orchestrating luck so that it works in your favor. Interested? We thought you might be.
